Natural skincare tips for glowing, radiant skin this winter.

Natural body oil

With winter just around the corner its time to up your skincare game. The cold, dry air and harsh temperatures can strip your skin of its natural oils leaving it dry, irritated and looking dull. With a good skincare routine and quality products you can keep your skin looking and feeling glowing and radiant all winter long.

Here are some of our top natural skincare tips for winter.

Keep your skin hydrated.

The harsh weather, cold winds and dry indoor air can leave your skin dry, damaged and itchy making it more prone to becoming cracked and sore. The ultimate tip for winter skincare is to moisturise. Choose a hydrating product that contains nourishing oils and is easily absorbed. Pay particular attention to areas that are exposed to the weather such as face and hands. When your skin is already battling against the winter elements, It's good to avoid products containing petroleum jelly such as vaseline, on the face as this can clog pores. Alcohol, which can dry out the skin further and strong fragrance due to the increased chance of irritation to damaged skin.

Don't forget to keep your skin hydrated from the inside too! Drinking plenty of water can help to keep your skin looking its best especially in the winter.

Our natural face oils and natural body oils are a great way to keep your skin naturally hydrated and protected during the winter months. Formulated to be easily absorbed by the skin our face oils contain a blend of nourishing super food oils, including Pomegranate seed oil, Apricot kernel oil, and Strawberry seed oil, that help to lock in moisture, repair, protect and soothe your skin.

Winter exfoliating.

Exfoliating helps to remove dead skin cells revealing the fresh glowing skin underneath. During winter its important not to over exfoliate and irritate the skin, use a gentle exfoliator 2 or 3 times a week to keep the skin looking radiant.

For a natural and gentle skin exfoliator why not try a konjac sponge, these sponges are completely natural and made from the root of the konjac tree. Konjac sponges are gentle enough for facial exfoliation and are suitable for the most sensitive of skin types!

Winter lip care.

The cold, dry air causes your lips to dry and crack, unlike the rest of your skin your lips don't contain oils to keep them naturally moist. So how do you keep your lips hydrated and protected in winter?

Don't lick your lips, this only temporarily moistens them. Instead gently exfoliate your lips and keep them hydrated. Removing the dead skin cells with a gentle exfoliation before applying a protective product allows the product to hydrate the healthy cells rather than the build up of dry, dead skin.

Add a natural balm which contains a small amount of natural wax, this helps to lock in moisture and protect the lips.

Don't neglect the hidden skin.

Its easy to neglect the areas of our body hidden away for the winter months in thick wools and fluffy socks but they need attention too! The winter cold and wet weather can cause knees, shins and elbows to become dry and flaky and feet to suffer. To remedy these neglected areas you can give your skin an intense moisturising treatment with our natural skin and lip balm. Our all purpose balm is ideal for calming, soothing and adding moisture to both the skin and lips. It is suitable for all of the family, including those with sensitive and problem prone skin, making it ideal for skin and lips in need of an intense moisturising treatment. Get enough sleep

A lack of sleep can leave your skin looking dull and tired too, aim to get 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night for a boost in how you feel and how you look.

If you struggle to sleep, create a calming routine before bed, turn off the screens for an hour before you intend to sleep, and use relaxing fragranced oils or body oils to create a relaxing environment. Essential oils such as lavender and chamomile both have a calming and naturally sedative effect. *

By following our winter skincare tips, you can keep your skin looking and feeling its best all winter long. And by using Kind Melts skincare products, you can be sure that you're using products that are gentle on your skin and completely natural.

* Essential oils are highly concentrated and can be harmful if not used correctly. Essential oils should always be diluted with a carrier oil at the recommended ratio before applying them to your skin.
