Self Care Day

24th July 2021 is International self care day, it focuses on the self care promise.

It encourages people to make a commitment to their well being.

We all know how easy it is to forget about your own self care with todays busy lifestyles, with family or work commitments. I always encourage my own family and friends to take time out to care for themselves and that its ok to do so, you won't be any good to anyone if you burn yourself out.


So heres some ideas for a self care makeover..


Go for a walk. One of the simplest things to do to have a positive impact on your mental and physical health.

It doesn't have to be a fast pace strenuous walk, just a few minutes outdoors in the fresh air can be of benefit.


Sleep. Getting a good nights sleep helps keep your immune system at its best. Switch off those screens, Light a candle, relax in a warm bath salts bath and then hit the sack for some Zzz.


Take some time for yourself. Read a book, binge that Netflix series, spend some time pampering yourself, Bake, dance, sing, put your favourite wax melts on .. Do whatever you enjoy doing once a week you deserve some time out.


Talk. Humans are naturally sociable and with the recent lockdowns its not surprise many peoples mental health has been affected. Its ok not to be ok, talking is a great way to release some of the stress. Even better than Talking, hug someone! a pet, a friend or family. A hug can give you ( and them) comfort and connect you.


Look after your physical health. It doesn't have to be a huge change even committing to drinking more water can benefit you. Maybe you need to go and get that health niggle checked out, eat well or commit to exercise more regularly.


Self care is different for everyone, make a start and do one thing on Self care day that is for you!
